A focal part of this project was the creation of a 15 meter long frameless glass link which was to join the grand entrance hall with the library and living accommodation.
Being a listed building the design was subject to extremely close scrutiny and every detail right down to the last screw and fixing had to be submitted and approved by both Northumberland Planning Authority and English Heritage.
The link was designed and constructed entirely from frameless double glazed structural glass, supported by triple laminated glass beams and features our in house designed pivoting doors complete with full height stainless steel locking handles. Low emissivity glass and argon filled units provide a well insulated and comfortable space.
Planning permission was duly granted in early 2011 and construction began in late spring and completed by mid August.
